1. Project Background

As an economic and tourism hub in the Middle East, the UAE has witnessed a steady growth in high-end commercial complexes, which imposes extremely high requirements on the traffic efficiency, security protection, and equipment durability of parking lots.

The commercial complex involved in this cooperation is located in the UAE, with a total construction area of approximately 5,000 square meters and an attached parking lot featuring 100 parking spaces. The peak daily vehicle flow of the parking lot exceeds 500 vehicle trips.

Previously, the complex used a traditional gate barrier system, which suffered from three core pain points:

  • Extreme summer heat (up to 50°C) caused frequent equipment failures, with an average of over 3 maintenance visits per month;
  • Low license plate recognition accuracy: The misrecognition rate reached 15% in rainy days or under strong sunlight, leading to congestion at entrances and exits;
  • Lack of remote management functions: Real-time monitoring of equipment status was unavailable, resulting in delayed operation and maintenance (O&M) responses.

In response to the UAE’s unique climatic conditions and project requirements, our company customized an integrated solution of "High-Temperature-Resistant Intelligent Gate Barrier + AI License Plate Recognition" for the project. The core product selection is as follows:

2.1 High-Temperature-Resistant Intelligent Gate Barrier

2.2 AI License Plate Recognition Camera
  • Equipped with an 8-megapixel high-definition lens and wide dynamic image processing technology; its algorithm is optimized for complex scenarios such as strong sunlight, rainy days, and nighttime, increasing the license plate recognition accuracy to over 99.8%;
  • Supports recognition of Arabic license plates and internationally used license plates, meeting the parking needs of the complex’s international customers.
2.3 Intelligent Management Platform
  • Developed with a multilingual (Arabic, English, Chinese) operation interface, supporting remote equipment monitoring, fault early warning, and data statistics;
  • Managers can view real-time traffic data at each entrance/exit and equipment operation status, reducing the fault response time to within 30 minutes.

In addition, the solution design fully considers the project’s scenario characteristics:

  • 3 entry lanes and 3 exit lanes are set at the parking lot entrances; the gate barriers are linked with the parking space guidance system, which automatically displays available parking spaces after vehicle recognition;
  • A contactless payment function is integrated at the exits, supporting credit card payments and mobile payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay), improving traffic efficiency by 50%.
3. Project Implementation & Acceptance

The project was launched in March 2025, and the implementation process strictly complied with local construction standards and safety regulations in the UAE. The key phases are as follows:

Preliminary Research & Planning March 1 – March 15 Our team conducted on-site surveys to record data such as the size of parking lot entrances/exits, power layout, and peak vehicle flow periods. The solution details were adjusted based on the client’s needs, and the equipment installation locations and wiring plans were confirmed.
Equipment Transportation & Installation March 16 – April 5 Custom shockproof packaging was used for equipment transportation to avoid damage during long-distance shipping. The installation team, consisting of 5 senior engineers, wore professional protective equipment and strictly followed the construction drawings to install gate barriers, cameras, control boxes, and other equipment. Wiring and system debugging were completed simultaneously.
Staff Training & Trial Operation April 6 – April 20 3 operation training sessions were held for the client’s management team, covering daily equipment operation, simple fault troubleshooting, and the use of the management platform. During the trial operation, 2 engineers were stationed on-site to record equipment operation data and optimize the recognition algorithm and traffic process.
Project Acceptance April 21 The client organized a professional acceptance team to test the system from dimensions including equipment performance, traffic efficiency, and stability:

- The equipment operated continuously for 72 hours without faults under a high temperature of 45°C;

- During peak vehicle flow (18:00 – 21:00), the traffic speed per lane reached 3 seconds per vehicle;

- The license plate recognition accuracy was 100%.

The project met all client requirements and passed acceptance in one go.
4. Application Effects & Client Feedback

Since the project was put into use (as of September 2025), the equipment has operated stably, and all indicators have met or exceeded expectations. The specific application effects are as follows:

  • Significantly improved equipment stability: The equipment failure rate during summer high-temperature periods dropped to 0.2%, a 93% decrease compared to the client’s previous system, greatly reducing O&M costs. The carbon fiber barrier arms demonstrated excellent wind resistance, successfully withstanding the strong gusts (wind speed of 18 m/s) in July 2025 without any equipment damage.
  • Substantially enhanced traffic efficiency: Congestion at parking lot entrances and exits was completely resolved. The length of vehicle queues during peak hours was reduced from 50 meters to less than 10 meters, and customer satisfaction increased to 95%.
  • Effectively reduced management costs: Through remote monitoring and fault early warning functions, the client reduced on-site O&M staff by 50%, saving approximately 120,000 AED in annual O&M costs.
